Weekly Meetings

Every week, we order donuts and welcome an intimate community of 10–20 students in Sever Hall to candidly discuss some of America’s most pressing political issues. At a school marred with a reputation for self-censorship and poor free speech, members repeatedly point to our weekly meetings as a valuable forum for exploring nuanced realities while confronting long-held truisms.

Twice a semester, we hold “reverse debates” during our meetings. In this hallmark of our internal programming, students – whose views already span the breadth of the political spectrum – are forced to prepare arguments for an opposing perspective amid a structured debate. Our members regard these fixtures highly; controversial issues like immigration enforcement and interventionist foreign policy alwats carry more nuance than it may seem at first glance.
