Read Our Work Online

Few attend the party of two.

In such a polarized political canon, it’s rare that organizations will seek to bridge cross-aisle divides and develop solutions to society’s problems with their opponents. HUBS, thus, embodies a unique position and perspective, one that we’ve worked to circulate through policy briefs, op-eds, and more. In years to come, we hope our work can help to actualize the HUBS vision of unity and multilateral productivity. Below, you’ll find links to our published pieces.

An Act Relative to Ending Failure-to-Pay License Suspensions

Many low-income individuals, having incurred debt upon difficulty covering court and other legal fees, have had their licenses suspended on account of their failure-to-pay. HUBS partnered with Representative Patrick O’Conner of the Massachusetts House to call for an end to this policy and make economic equity a priority even in the less widely known aspects of criminal justice. A National Database: The Nonpartisan Solution to Police Misconduct

In response to a tumultuous summer of visible injustice and decades of unchecked police brutality, HUBS analyzes the inefficacies of current police accountability initiatives and suggests a nationwide database project. We partnered with Independent Voter News, a journalistic platform populated by writers from across the political spectrum, to make this piece publically available. Click below to view.

Three Harvard Political Groups Release Bipartisan Statement Condemning Washington, D.C. Riot

In the midst of a tragic and unforeseen display of violence at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021 by those who sought to overturn the results of the November 2020 election, HUBS initiated an unprecedented moment of cooperation between Democrats and Republicans on campus. We partnered with the Crimson to make this story publically available. Click below to view the article or here to read the joint statement.

A Universal, Mandatory Public Database is Vital To Curbing Police Violence

After the heartbreaking losses the United States experienced in summer 2020, HUBS critiques current efforts to curb policy misconduct, identifies their shortcomings, and proposes a national bipartisan solution. We partnered with the Harvard Political Review, the College’s premier undergraduate political journal, to make this piece available throughout the College and beyond. Click below to view.
